Assistant Teacher Before School, Learning Zone Tutor, and Assistant Toddler Teacher – The Learning Lighthouse

Pay: $11.00 /hour
Job Type: Part-time

Location: Mount Vernon, OH

Our “Why”

The Learning Lighthouse exists to be a steady, safe, joyful place for children, and a dependable partner for families. We believe early childhood is sacred work: the daily moments of comfort, curiosity, routines, and play are where confidence is built and futures are shaped.

We are a new childcare center that is growing and building something special. This role is for someone who wants to be part of that foundation, someone who sees the value in helping create the culture, the quality, and the kind of program families talk about. As the Learning Lighthouse grows, you’ll have the opportunity to grow with us through training, leadership development, and increased responsibility.

If you’re the kind of teacher who measures success in children feeling safe, learning to trust, using their words, taking brave first steps, and discovering “I can do it,” you’ll fit here.

The Learning Lighthouse is hiring caring, dependable team members for several part-time positions within our school-age and toddler programs.

We are currently hiring for three schedules:

1. Before-School Teacher

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:45 a.m.–9:00 a.m.

The Before-School Teacher provides a safe, welcoming, and organized start to the day for school-age children. This person will supervise children before school, support morning routines, lead simple activities, and help children prepare for a successful school day.

2. Learning Zone (after-school) Tutor

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.

The Learning Zone Tutor helps support our school-age program during the afternoon. This person will assist with activities, homework time, snacks, transitions, and active supervision while helping create a positive environment where children can relax, learn, and connect after school.

3. Toddler Classroom Assistant Teacher

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m. (Optional extended hours may be available for candidates interested in working additional hours.)

The Toddler Classroom Assistant Teacher works alongside the classroom teaching team to provide nurturing, responsive care for young children. This person will assist with classroom routines, learning activities, meals, diapering or toileting, cleaning, and end-of-day transitions.
