The Opportunity
We are seeking a STEM Outreach Coordinator to join the Communications & External Relations team. This person will play a key role in developing, managing, and implementing a broad portfolio of STEM education programs and public engagement initiatives connecting diverse audiences — from K–12 students and educators to university partners and the general public — to the organization’s scientific mission.
This is a highly collaborative, project-management-forward role that sits at the intersection of science communication, community partnership, and grant administration. The ideal candidate is organized, mission-aligned, and energized by making complex science accessible and exciting to a wide range of audiences.
What You’ll Own
• Support the design, development, and implementation of STEM education programs for K–12 students, educators, university partners, and the general public
• Plan, coordinate, and execute public engagement events; track and report on participation, reach, and outcomes
• Serve as a primary point of contact for partner organizations including schools, universities, museums, science centers, and community organizations
• Support the development, submission, and reporting of federal grant proposals and awards, including managing deliverables, timelines, and budgets
• Coordinate logistics, materials, and staffing for outreach activities across internal teams and external partners
• Track and document program impact and outcomes for reporting purposes
Ideal Background
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science Communication, a STEM field, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience in STEM education, informal education, public outreach, or a related field
• Experience coordinating programs or events with multiple stakeholders
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts for general audiences
• Experience with program metrics, budget tracking, and KPI monitoring
• Familiarity with NSF grant processes or federal Broader Impacts requirements a plus
• Proficiency in Spanish a plus
• Experience with Asana, Slack, and OneDrive preferred
Compensation & Details
• Salary: $80,000–$120,000 based on experience
• Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, and 401(k)
• Location: Pasadena, CA — hybrid schedule
• Travel: Occasional travel to program partner sites and outreach events
