Staff Accountant | Nonprofit | Remote (Chicago Area Preferred)
We are partnering with a globally recognized, mission-driven nonprofit organization based on the South Side of Chicago to find a detail-oriented Staff Accountant. This is a primarily remote role with just one day onsite per month — ideal for a Chicago-area candidate looking to make an impact.
What You'll Be Doing
- Record daily cash transactions including incoming pledges, contributions, and earned income receipts in NetSuite
- Reconcile cash to bank accounts and general ledger on a weekly basis
- Collaborate with the Development team to verify gift data accuracy across systems
- Maintain an accurate general ledger and support month-end close by the 8th business day
- Assist with annual financial statement audit and IRS Form 990 preparation
- Serve as backup for key accounting roles to ensure operational continuity
What We're Looking For
- 2–3 years of accounting experience — nonprofit experience a plus
- NetSuite experience strongly preferred
- Strong general ledger and reconciliation skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
- Familiarity with Workday or Salesforce a plus
- Chicago-area candidates preferred (1 day onsite/month)
