This is a hybrid role, in-person in Alexandria, VA, three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday).

Summary

The Specialist, Professional Education provides administrative, governance, and committee meeting management support for the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Foundation’s (AAO-HNSF) Education Steering Committee and specialty committees. In addition, this role manages special events at the Annual Meeting.

Reporting Structure

The Specialist, Professional Education reports to the Senior Manager, Digital Learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative, governance, and committee meeting management (in-person and virtual) support for AAO-HNSF’s Education Steering Committee and 9 specialty committees
  • Assists with development and management of education product marketing campaigns and weekly promotion to support and raise the visibility of AAO-HNSF’s digital learning portfolio offerings (i.e., OTO News, Bulletin, eblasts, website, and other social media channels)
  • Coordinates content updates and quality assurance for the Academy’s digital learning portfolio, ensuring materials remain accurate, current, and aligned with organizational standards
  • Manages the master schedule and volunteers who have signed up to write for the Bulletin
  • Serves as the BU liaison at the Bulletin Editorial Group (BEG) monthly
  • Assists with the Scientific Poster Presentations, which includes presenter logistics and communications as well as on site management at Annual Meeting
  • Manages programmatic and event logistics for special events and programs at the Annual Meeting
  • Tracks educational activity metrics and prepares reports to support program evaluation and continuous improvement
  • Maintains the user feedback system for educational products/platforms, systematically identifying trends, applying content edits, and reaching out to SME’s when appropriate Manages multiple projects and working groups simultaneously for all assigned products
  • Maintains shared documents within the BU

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in related field (relevant experience and/or certifications may be substituted for a degree)
  • Experience in professional education, continuing medical education (CME), or nonprofit association environment strongly preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and manage competing deadlines
  • Ability to operate effectively both independently and on a team
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Prior experience with Articulate
  • IMIS experience preferred
  • Experience with web-based learning technology
  • Excellent customer service, problem-solving, and judgment skills

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting and standing, up to 7.5 hours per day
  • Ability to maneuver (lift, carry, move slide, etc.) up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to spend most of the time viewing computer monitors and operating computer-related devices (keyboard, mouse, etc.)

Travel

  • Some local travel required
  • Occasional domestic travel required, up to 25%

The base pay range for this role is $69,000 – $75,000, commensurate with experience and education/certifications.
