About Us: Central Ohio’s Programs for Animal Welfare is a non-profit veterinary clinic and animal rescue organization dedicated to providing accessible care to families in need in Central Ohio and beyond. Our mission is to promote animal welfare and reduce overpopulation by providing affordable spay/neuter services to the community. We take pride in our unique setup, which includes an attached cat café that helps showcase adoptable feline companions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians during spay and neuter surgeries, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and surgical protocols
- Prepare animals for procedures by performing animal restraint, IV insertion, vascular access, and catheterization with confidence and compassion
- Monitor anesthesia using veterinary anesthesia monitoring equipment, ensuring patient safety throughout surgical procedures
- Conduct laboratory work including phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology, and veterinary laboratory diagnostics to support clinical decisions
- Manage medical equipment operation such as X-ray machines, radiology diagnostics tools, and other veterinary surgical instruments
- Provide post-operative animal care including medication administration, wound management, pet grooming, and pet care education for owners
- Maintain accurate veterinary software records, document procedures thoroughly, and communicate effectively with clients about pet health needs
- Administer treatments, medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian
Working Hours:
- Hours: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm (flexible)
- Days: Choose your preferred workdays to accommodate your schedule. No weekends.
Compensation:
- Hourly rate: $20-25 per hour, based on experience.

Qualifications:
- Valid and active Ohio RVT license.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to handle animals with care and compassion
- Basic knowledge of animal health and behavior
- Physical stamina to lift and restrain animals of various sizes- Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Prior experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is required.
- Experience in high-volume spay/neuter required.
- Proficiency with venipuncture, intubation and anesthetic monitoring required.
- Experience and proficiency with dental extractions highly preferred.
- Passport and international travel required for certain projects but participation is not a requirement of employment.
