About WorkLife Meetings

WorkLife Meetings is a premier conference center and tenant lounge located within THE MART in downtown Chicago. The venue provides flexible meeting rooms, conference facilities, hospitality services, and event programming for building tenants and external clients. The Event Sales & Marketing Manager plays a critical role in increasing venue utilization, driving revenue, and delivering exceptional client experiences.

Position Summary

The Event Sales & Marketing Manager is responsible for generating meeting and event revenue by managing the complete sales lifecycle—from initial inquiry through event handoff to operations. This position also leads venue marketing, business development, and client relationship management while partnering closely with the General Manager to achieve revenue, occupancy, and guest satisfaction goals.

Essential Responsibilities

Event Sales & Business Development

  • Manage all tenant and external event inquiries with timely, professional communication.
  • Conduct venue tours and needs assessments.
  • Prepare customized proposals, contracts, pricing, and presentations.
  • Negotiate agreements and close new business.
  • Develop prospecting strategies targeting corporate meetings, trainings, networking events, nonprofit

functions, and private events.

  • Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and forecast future revenue.
  • Build relationships with local businesses, hotels, DMCs, chambers of commerce, and commercial real

estate partners.

  • Identify upsell opportunities and repeat business.

Client Experience

  • Serve as the primary planning contact through pre-event coordination.
  • Lead planning calls and collect all event specifications.
  • Produce detailed event orders and ensure accurate operational handoff.
  • Provide proactive communication and exceptional customer service.

Marketing

  • Develop annual marketing plan.
  • Manage LinkedIn and other social channels.
  • Coordinate email campaigns and promotional calendars.
  • Create flyers, digital signage, newsletters, and sales collateral.
  • Partner with property management on tenant promotions and special events.
  • Monitor marketing analytics and adjust campaigns.

Collaboration

  • Partner with the General Manager on revenue strategy.
  • Coordinate with Guest Services and AV teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Participate in weekly Event Advisory meetings.
  • Support VIP and high-profile events when needed.

Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain CRM accuracy (Tripleseat preferred).
  • Track inquiries, conversion rates, booking pace, and revenue.
  • Prepare monthly sales reports and forecasts.
  • Maintain contracts and client documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Hospitality, Marketing, Business, or related field.
  • 3–5+ years of event sales, hotel sales, conference center, or hospitality sales experience.
  • Demonstrated success meeting revenue goals.
  • Experience with CRM software; Tripleseat preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and negotiation skills.

Preferred Experience

Corporate meetings, hospitality, hotels, event venues, commercial real estate amenities.

Schedule

Primarily Monday through Friday business hours with flexibility to support occasional early morning, evening, or high-profile events.

Physical Requirements

Ability to move throughout the venue, lift up to 25 pounds occasionally, and support event operations as needed.
