The starting salary range for this position will be in the $21.44 – $22.09 range, depending on experience, education, and skills relevant to the position. Please note that the indicated starting salary range describes the range for an incumbent in this position. Most new staff generally start at the beginning of the range percentile to ensure internal salary equity.

Program Summary

Conservation Corps North Carolina (CCNC) empowers youth and young adults through meaningful outdoor work that benefits North Carolina’s land and water and fosters healthy communities. A program of Conservation Legacy, CCNC partners with public land managers and community organizers across the state to engage motivated individuals – typically ages 15‑30 – in challenging and impactful conservation service projects. These projects may include trail construction and maintenance, habitat restoration, hazard fuel reduction, invasive species removal, and other technical conservation work.

CCNC crews and individual placements gain hands‑on experience, professional development, and the opportunity to positively impact North Carolina’s natural resources and communities. CCNC has program offices in both Durham and Old Fort and supports project work statewide with partners including the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Ameri Corps, NC State Parks, NC Wildlife Resources Commission, local governments, community organizations and nonprofits.

Position

Summary

The Conservation Corps North Carolina (CCNC) Recruitment Coordinator II will be responsible for all CCNC recruitment implementation: recruiting, interviewing, hiring, selecting CCNC crew corps volunteer participants. Duties will include volunteer support, community outreach, and communications. This position will work to build and expand existing relationships and partnerships to develop recruitment pathways – including attending in‑person outreach events. Travel is required for this position with some overnight trips related to recruitment, content creation, and staff development.

& Functions Of Position Recruitment

  • Receive, review applications, conduct interviews, check references, and select candidates for all crew program positions.
  • Develop and maintain job postings, job descriptions, applications, program flyers, and other recruitment related materials that reflect current recruitment needs.
  • Screen all applicants and identify those who meet the basic requirements for the position.
  • Communicate recruitment needs to all CCNC staff in a timely manner.
  • Provide recruitment support for staff positions as requested.
  • Track recruitment platforms for efficacy, suggest and track improvements.
  • Enhance CCNC visibility in Durham, NC and across the state.
  • Promote CCNC as well as Conservation Legacy’s mission, programs, and achievements.
  • Collaborate with the Conservation Legacy Recruitment Rendezvous group to improve and grow recruitment across programs.
  • Work directly with Recruitment Leadership staff to enhance CCNC’s recruitment process.
