Its work spans building engaged citizens, enabling high-capability talent to contribute, addressing priority-sector challenges with industry practitioners, and engaging with leaders, policymakers, and government institutions on policy and implementation.
NBFI’s initial focus is on three areas that can strengthen India’s long-term capabilities:
● Building India: Campus Initiatives: Creating platforms for young people to engage with important issues, build capabilities, and contribute to NationBuilding.
● The India Healthspan Project: Improving population health through stronger preventive health and enabling people to remain healthier for longer.
● Advancing Scientific Research in India: Strengthening India’s scientific research ecosystem and its ability to generate, support, and translate knowledge into meaningful outcomes.
2. About the Role
NBFI is looking for a highly motivated and capable Program Manager to drive the design, development, and execution of initiatives that contribute to NationBuilding. The role will involve working across the organisation’s priority areas, translating ideas into well-structured programs, managing execution, and working with a diverse set of stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes. The Program Manager will have significant ownership and will be expected to combine strategic thinking with strong execution. The role will involve understanding complex problems, developing practical approaches, coordinating across stakeholders, and ensuring that initiatives move from intent to action.
a. Key Responsibilities
● Lead the planning, development, and execution of NBFI programs and initiatives from concept through implementation.
● Lead and manage large, diverse teams to deliver programs and initiatives effectively.
● Set clear objectives, priorities, roles, and deliverables for teams, and ensure strong execution against them.
● Build high-performing teams by providing direction, mentoring team members, and fostering a culture of ownership and accountability.
● Translate strategic objectives into clear work plans, milestones, and measurable outcomes.
● Identify and resolve operational and execution challenges, making decisions to keep programs on track.
● Conduct research and analysis to understand issues, identify opportunities, and inform program design.
● Build and manage relationships with relevant stakeholders, including young professionals, academic institutions, industry practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and other organisations.
● Coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure effective and timely delivery of initiatives. ● Track program progress, identify challenges, and take corrective action where required.
● Develop presentations, reports, briefs, and other communication materials for internal and external stakeholders.
● Contribute to building systems, processes, and institutional capabilities that enable programs to scale and create sustained impact.

4. Eligibility criteria
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a recognised institution. Candidates from diverse academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
● Relevant experience in program management, consulting, research, public policy, social impact, education, healthcare, science, industry, or related fields will be an advantage.
● Demonstrated experience of taking projects or initiatives from conception to execution.
● Strong academic or professional track record.
● Candidates with a demonstrated interest in contributing to India’s development and solving complex societal challenges are encouraged to apply.

6. Role location
This is a full-time, in-office role based in Gurugram, Haryana. The role may involve travel for program activities, institutional engagements, meetings, and other initiatives as required.
