Job Description:

Be available to work as a On call Floater and maintain flexibility with work schedules, classroom assignments, and hours based on the operational needs of the school.

  • Report to work on time for all scheduled shifts and remain flexible to accommodate schedule changes as needed.
  • Accurately clock in and out using the designated Brightwheel device. If the system is unavailable, document work hours according to school procedures.
  • Follow the daily lesson plans, classroom routines, and curriculum prepared by the Lead Teacher.
  • Maintain California Community Care Licensing teacher-to-child ratios and comply with all applicable licensing regulations and school policies.
  • Provide active supervision of children at all times, both indoors and outdoors, to ensure their health and safety.
  • Complete and maintain accurate attendance records, headcount sheets, and other required documentation throughout the day.
  • Establish and maintain professional, respectful, and positive relationships with children, families, coworkers, and administrators.
  • Interact with children in a developmentally appropriate, respectful, and nurturing manner at all times.
  • Comply with the Tzu Chi Great Love Preschool dress code and uphold the school’s mission, values, and philosophy.
  • Attend all required Tzu Chi meetings, staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions unless otherwise excused by the Director.
  • Maintain all required certifications and trainings, including Pediatric CPR/First Aid, Mandated Reporter Training, Sexual Harassment Prevention Training, Food Handler Certificate, and any other training required by California licensing or the school.
  • Provide classroom coverage to ensure teachers receive their scheduled 10-minute rest breaks, meal breaks, and preparation (prep) time, while maintaining required supervision ratios and completing any required documentation.
  • Collaborate with Lead Teachers and other staff members to implement the Tzu Chi curriculum and provide classroom support as needed.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and promptly complete student accident, incident, and injury reports as required.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all information regarding children, families, staff, and school operations.
  • Assist with opening and closing classroom procedures, including preparing the classroom for the day and ensuring classrooms are clean, organized, and secured at the end of the day.
  • Assist with preparing classroom materials, learning activities, art projects, and supplies for daily instruction and special events.
  • Assist with diapering, toileting, handwashing routines, and other personal care needs in accordance with California Community Care Licensing regulations and school policies.
  • Help prepare, set up, sanitize, and store cots and bedding before and after nap time.
  • Receive, organize, and distribute lunches prepared by the kitchen to each classroom, including properly handling and delivering allergy meals according to school procedures.
  • Prepare and serve morning and afternoon snacks, following food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Perform light kitchen duties as assigned, including cleaning the kitchen, washing dishes, sanitizing food preparation areas, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Clean and sanitize toys, classroom materials, tables, and learning areas according to the school’s cleaning and sanitation procedures.
  • Take photos of students using only the school-issued iPad or School Phone for documentation in Brightwheel. Personal cell phones may not be used for taking student photos.
  • Support school events, field trips, Spirit Days, family events, and other special activities as assigned.
  • Maintain all employment requirements, including current immunizations and health clearances required by California law and school policy, including but not limited to MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) and Pertussis (Whooping Cough).
  • Notify the Preschool Director no later than 6:00 a.m., or as soon as reasonably possible, if unable to report to work due to illness or an emergency.
  • Perform any additional duties and responsibilities assigned by the Preschool Director to support the daily operations of Tzu Chi Great Love Preschool.Required Skills/Abilities:

Job Requiremetns:

  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to use technology including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Adobe, Photoshop.
  • Positive attitude and high levels of motivation.
  • Passion for working with preschool children.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to carry and lift teaching materials.
  • Be able to work on call between 7:15 a.m. – 6:15 p.m.

Education: Degree:

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education
  • 12 ECE units

Experience: Evidence of at least one year of the related experience.

Language: English & Mandarin Speaking

Pay: $19.50 – $24.21 per hour
