Position: Philanthropy Advisor II (Major Gifts)
Position Details
Under the direction of the Director of Philanthropy and Information Services, the Philanthropy Advisor II (Major Gifts) creates strong relationships and builds philanthropic engagement between the University and its alumni and friends.
The Philanthropy Advisor II (Major Gifts) implements activities for all aspects of the donor development cycle and achieves and/or exceeds fundraising goals by managing a portfolio of high-capacity donors,
building relationships
with stakeholders, moving relationships forward and making the request of potential donors of $25,000+ in accordance with the University’s goals.
The Philanthropy Advisor’s responsibilities will be to:
Analyze, interpret, and determine the ability, capacity, linkage and interest of individuals, corporations, and Foundations to donate to the University;
Develop and execute research, proposals, donor strategies, and briefing notes for volunteers and senior administrators while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information;
Execute highly confidential meetings with potential donors to collect an inventory of their interests and ability to donate;
Execute internal and external face-to-face meetings, campus tours, events, emails, phone calls and letters to build a relationship with potential donors and inform them of opportunities to donate;
Match potential donors’ interests with approved fundraising priorities and advise potential donors of such opportunities by making a direct appeal for their donation;
Prepare and provide regular updates to donors on the impact of their gift which demonstrates the University’s gratitude and encourages the donor to make additional donations;
Ensure compliance with University gift acceptance policies, accurate recording of gifts and donor history in the CRM;
Collaborate with a wide array of campus partners to identify and articulate University fundraising priorities and opportunities to prospective donors;
Provide philanthropic counsel across the institution on major gifts and other issues related to CRA compliance, donor relations, fundraising strategy, ethics and gift negotiations ensuring staff are empowered and assisted in securing donations.
The University of Lethbridge is undertaking a job classification and compensation review for Administrative Professional Officer (APO) positions. As such, the
salary range
currently assigned for this position may be adjusted as a result of this project. Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Minimum 4-7 years (8-10 preferred) of progressive experience, ideally within higher education, with a demonstrated track record of success securing major gifts of $25,000 or more and deferred gifts/bequests
Preference for candidates with CFRE
Active membership in AFP or CAGP an asset

(at 1.0 FTE) $63,255.50 – $79,575.80 annually Full
Salary Range
(at 1.0 FTE) $63,255.50 – $95,896.11 annually (APO – Grade
