Position Overview:
Our partner is currently seeking a sharp, highly organized Marketing and Business Development Intern to support our team with prospect research, marketing communications, and general business development operations. This is a great role for someone who is deeply curious, loves working behind the scenes, has excellent writing skills, and is eager to learn how a mission-driven communications firm grows.
As a boutique firm, everyone on our team, at all levels, helps support DEY. clients (both on the Institutional and Books side of the business). To name just a few, that has most recently included The Rockefeller Foundation, MIT’s Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), and Wellcome Trust.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
MARKETING + COMMUNICATIONS
Draft short-form marketing copy including social media posts and outreach emails
Assist with DEY.’s social media strategy and content calendar
Help create visuals and promotional assets for DEY. using tools like Canva
Support content updates to our website and marketing collateral
Conduct research to support thought leadership and visibility efforts
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Research new business prospects and help prepare briefings and opportunity memos
Help maintain our business development database: logging targets, updating contact details, tracking outreach progress
Support proposal development by drafting bios, proofreading decks, or summarizing relevant work
Monitor LinkedIn and other channels for relevant prospect news or opportunities
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Help organize team materials and ensure internal systems (Google Drive, Monday.com, etc.) are up to date
Support the scheduling and preparation for internal and external meetings
Take meeting notes and summarize next steps when needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Strong organizational habits and attention to detail
Familiarity with LinkedIn and social platforms (especially Twitter and Instagram); a general understanding of how to craft engaging posts
Some experience with Canva or similar tools for light design work
Interest in PR, marketing, or communications — particularly in the social impact or nonprofit space
A proactive attitude and curiosity about how communications can drive influence and change
DETAILS
Location: Remote, with occasional in-person working days in NYC preferred
Hours: 10–15 hours/week
Supervision: Supervised by the Director of Client Services with mentorship from other team members
