Role Description
This full-time, hybrid role is based in Canada, allowing for a combination of remote work and on-site responsibilities. As an Indigenous Youth Engagement Officer, you will develop and implement initiatives to engage Indigenous youth and amplify their voices in research projects. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including Indigenous communities, researchers, and organizational partners, to ensure culturally respectful and relevant engagement strategies. Responsibilities include organizing events, developing communication materials, conducting outreach activities, and providing insights to integrate Indigenous perspectives into research initiatives.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills, with experience in engaging diverse communities, particularly Indigenous youth
- Understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, protocols, and issues affecting Indigenous peoples in Canada
- Project coordination, event planning, and organizational skills
- Ability to create culturally relevant communication materials, including written and visual content
- Knowledge of research processes and ethical considerations in working with Indigenous communities is an asset
- Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience in Indigenous studies, social sciences, community engagement, or a related field
- Fluency in an Indigenous language is considered an asset, though not required
