JOB TITLE: HR Generalist: Hourly, Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Human Resources

REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources

Position Purpose

The Human Resources Generalist will support the Human Resources department in various administrative functions of the Human Resources department. This includes maintaining employee databases and files, processing status changes, onboarding and offboarding, project management, data analysis, checking references, compiling data, and preparing routine and special reports.

This is a full-time (40 hours weekly), in person, position and is benefits-eligible.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

General HR Administration – 60%

Maintain personnel files (filing, regularly audit employee records to ensure files are accurate and up to date).
Data entry in Paylocity system (new hires, changes, terminations).
In Paylocity, generate reports for decision-making.
Employment verifications.
Wage verifications.
Conduct audits of social security numbers, agency equipment, performance reviews.
Set up and maintain a system to archive files on a regular basis.
Maintain supply of new hire packets, employee handbooks, HR forms for staff.
Maintain I-9 Documentation and conduct audits and follow-up for expired documents in Paylocity.
Mailers to all staff as needed.
Coordinate meetings for training, orientation, and other HR-related functions.
Use annual surveys to monitor and measure employee satisfaction with our organization.
Hold regular staff check-ins to foster a positive workplace culture and identify and escalate employee relations issues, such as conflicts, disputes, and disciplinary matters, to the Senior Director of HR.

Onboarding & Offboarding 20%

Coordinate logistics for New Hire Orientation, New Manager Orientation, and Staff Integration
Complete 30 day check ins with new hires
Manage distribution of uniforms and maintain inventory
Manage Exit Interviews and Offboarding processes
Serve as a liaison for staff questions around benefits
Partner with Finance department to reconcile staff movement
Partner with Recruiter on offers, seasonal transitions, and promotions
Occasional review and recording of process adjustments

Safety & Compliance Tracking 20%

Launch and track monthly safety policy sign-offs, new hire training timelines, and 10/30/60/90 management documents
Update 10/30/60/90s as needed
Bi weekly meeting with GC for compliance
Partner with staff Safety Committee to coordinate All Staff Training Days
Keep current with regard to state laws and regulations impacting employee benefit programs to ensure compliance.

Skills/Knowledge Required

BA/BS from an accredited college or university; or related work experience.
A genuine passion for BGCSF’s mission and a willingness to align HR practices with the organization’s values and goals.
Experience in human resources practices or related fields.
Strong facilitation skills and ability to develop virtual and in person presentations.
Minimum of 3 years work experience in a youth serving nonprofit organization and a passion for development.
Experience handling confidential and sensitive matters with empathy.
Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills
Strong project/time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
Strong verbal communication skills including comfort presenting information to teams and speaking publicly.
Solid office etiquette and a professional approach with internal and external partners.
Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities is crucial.
Ability to manage and/or collaborate with other training resources.
Ability to work with minimal to moderate supervision.

Skills/Knowledge Preferred

Experience working with a similar youth development organization.
Strong computer skills; specifically, well-versed in Microsoft and Google Workplace, HRIS systems, and Learning Management Systems.
Ability to drive an automobile in CA.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
Must be able to stand for at least 2 hours
Must be able to sit at computer workstation for long time periods

PAY:

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and BGCSF needs. At BGCSF, our decisions are based on other factors and dependent on circumstances for each position. Depending on the need and requirement of the position, an individual could be hired at or near the entry level, mid – level or top of the range for their role and compensation. As such, a reasonable estimate of the current range is $27.00 to $30.00.
