The Grants Manager is responsible for all phases of Special Olympics Tennessee’s (SOTN) grants development, evaluation, and compliance—including research, pre-award grant writing, the coordination and execution of grant applications, post-award support for grant-funded projects and the closing out of grant projects with final budget and report outcomes.
Job Responsibilities
Perform internal review of SOTN’s needs, collect and gather program data and narratives, and assess the feasibility of obtaining external funding for both project and program proposals
Investigate and evaluate local, state, federal, private, foundation, and corporate sources of funds
Develop and maintain an internal grant application process
Develop and maintain a management system for funded grants that includes report due dates, budget adherence, and all other pertinent grant requirements
Ensure best practices and maintain utmost confidentiality by protecting data and information integrity
Develop and maintain a library of information on funding sources, organizational data and narratives, and key metrics relevant to SOTN’s programs and services
Collaborates with key staff to gather input for all potential funding asks and any required compliance data
Coordinate, develop, and process grant applications from concept to submission while working closely with the CEO and key staff throughout all phases
Managed multiple projects and priorities including research, composition, existing grant management, reporting, and identified special projects
Continuously cultivate a network of dedicated donors and external stakeholders to ensure financial goals are met and surpassed
Execute other duties as assigned by the Chief External Affairs Officer
Qualifications
Three to five (3-5) years of experience in grant writing management/nonprofit fundraising
A bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, communication, or a related field is strongly preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational, critical thinking, interpersonal, and time management skills
Ability to work well independently and in a fast-paced environment
Proficient in using relevant technology, including Microsoft Office Suite tools, Google Docs, and database systems
Ability to work with diverse personalities with a team-first mindset
Ability to build effective relationships with a variety of organizations
Willing to travel and work evenings and weekends, as needed
Have a valid Tennessee driver’s license and meet minimum Tennessee vehicle insurance requirements
Must pass a criminal background screening and submit to random drug testing
Additional Information
Commensurate with experience. This full-time position is benefit-eligible. Special Olympics Tennessee provides health and dental insurance, a life insurance policy, paid time off, and a 401K match program.
