The Finance Manager oversees daily accounting and financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls across the general ledger, payroll, billing, accounts payable/receivable, taxes, and cash management.
This role prepares financial statements, analyzes budgets, supports audits, and provides financial reporting and insight to executive leadership. It also oversees budgeting, policy compliance, and supervision of finance staff while ensuring adherence to applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure accuracy of all financial transactions
- Manage general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting processes
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and budget vs. actual reports
- Monitor cash flow, expenditures, and financial projections
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting requirements
- Lead audit preparation and support external audit processes
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures
- Oversee budgeting and financial planning across departments and programs
- Supervise finance staff, including training, performance, and workflow management
- Review and improve financial systems, chart of accounts, and cost allocation methods
- Collaborate with leadership on long-term financial planning and special projects
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- 4+ years of progressive financial/accounting experience
- At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP, compliance, and internal controls
- Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations preferred
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- Proficiency in financial systems and standard business software
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
