About the Role
We’re hiring a Conference & Events Manager for the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) in Lansing, Michigan. This is an exciting opportunity for an organized and detail-oriented event professional who enjoys planning impactful conferences, workshops and professional learning experiences. You'll play a key role in delivering statewide events that support Michigan school board members while helping drive continuous improvement and member engagement.
What You’ll Do
- Plan and manage in-person, virtual and hybrid events from concept to completion
- Lead execution of conferences, workshops and professional development programs
- Coordinate venues, vendors, registration systems and event logistics
- Manage event budgets, contracts and financial reconciliations
- Oversee onsite event operations and attendee experience
- Collaborate with internal teams on marketing, communications and programming
- Work with partner organizations on joint events and initiatives
- Analyze event data and participant feedback to improve future programs
- Ensure events are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business, Marketing or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of conference, meeting or event planning experience
- Experience managing budgets, vendors, contracts and logistics
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
- Experience with virtual or hybrid events is a plus
- Association, nonprofit, education or public-sector experience preferred
- CMP, CSEP or related certification is a plus
