Elementary School Instructor (Grades K–5)

Position Summary

EMPACT One Academy is seeking a dependable, energetic, compassionate, and academically strong Elementary School Instructor to provide instruction and support to scholars in grades K–5.

The ideal candidate is passionate about helping children succeed and understands that scholars have different learning styles, strengths, challenges, and support needs. The Elementary School Instructor will be responsible for providing engaging instruction in core academic subjects while creating a structured, positive, safe, and encouraging classroom environment.

A state teaching license is not required for this position. However, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in elementary-level core academic subjects and the ability to effectively teach and support scholars in Kindergarten through 5th grade.

The instructor must also be comfortable working with scholars participating in EMPACT P.A.T.H. — Personalized Academic & Therapeutic Help, our individualized student-support program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Elementary School Instructor will:

• Provide instruction to scholars in grades K–5.
• Demonstrate proficiency in elementary English/Language Arts, Reading, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
• Develop and submit organized weekly and daily lesson plans.
• Align instruction with Academy academic expectations, curriculum objectives, and scholar learning goals.
• Differentiate instruction based on scholars’ individual academic levels, learning styles, and needs.
• Provide individual, small-group, and whole-group instruction.
• Create engaging classroom activities that promote critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration.
• Assess scholar understanding through classwork, assignments, projects, quizzes, assessments, and observation.
• Maintain accurate grades, attendance records, progress documentation, and other required academic records.
• Identify scholars who may require additional academic intervention or support.
• Provide tutoring, remediation, enrichment, and individualized assistance when appropriate.
• Maintain an organized, structured, welcoming, and academically focused classroom.
• Establish clear classroom expectations and consistently reinforce Academy policies and standards.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with scholars, parents, coworkers, administrators, and community partners.

EMPACT P.A.T.H. Responsibilities

The instructor must be willing and able to work effectively with scholars participating in EMPACT P.A.T.H. — Personalized Academic & Therapeutic Help.

Responsibilities may include:

• Providing individualized and differentiated academic instruction.
• Implementing appropriate classroom accommodations and support strategies.
• Working with scholars who have IEPs, 504 Plans, learning differences, developmental needs, academic skill gaps, attention challenges, or social-emotional needs.
• Breaking assignments and concepts into manageable steps.
• Using multiple instructional approaches to help scholars understand concepts.
• Providing additional time, repetition, redirection, visual supports, small-group instruction, or other appropriate classroom supports.
• Encouraging scholar independence, confidence, self-advocacy, and academic growth.
• Documenting scholar progress and communicating concerns to Academy leadership.
• Collaborating with parents, administrators, support personnel, and outside providers when appropriate.

Candidates should be patient, flexible, compassionate, and committed to maintaining high expectations for all scholars regardless of ability or learning differences.

Lesson Planning & Academic Preparation

The Elementary School Instructor is expected to independently plan and prepare effective instruction.

The instructor must be able to:

• Write clear and comprehensive lesson plans.
• Establish measurable learning objectives.
• Prepare instructional materials in advance.
• Incorporate technology into classroom instruction.
• Create age-appropriate assignments and activities.
• Develop project-based and hands-on learning experiences.
• Modify instruction when scholars do not demonstrate mastery.
• Provide enrichment opportunities for scholars who are ready for advanced work.
• Maintain an organized classroom calendar and instructional schedule.

Field Trips, Activities & Classroom Enrichment

Learning at EMPACT One Academy extends beyond the classroom. Elementary instructors are expected to help create meaningful experiences that connect academics with real-world learning.

Responsibilities include:

• Researching and recommending educational field trips.
• Planning age-appropriate field-trip experiences.
• Developing educational objectives for trips and special activities.
• Assisting with permission forms, schedules, transportation coordination, supervision, and other trip logistics.
• Planning classroom celebrations, educational activities, presentations, competitions, fairs, and special projects.
• Participating in Academy-wide events and programs.
• Helping scholars prepare for annual academic projects and exhibitions.

Classroom Fundraising & Projects

The instructor may be responsible for coordinating appropriate classroom fundraising initiatives to support field trips, projects, classroom activities, and scholar experiences.

Responsibilities may include:

• Developing creative fundraising ideas.
• Setting fundraising goals.
• Coordinating activities with Academy administration.
• Involving scholars in age-appropriate entrepreneurship and fundraising activities.
• Maintaining accurate documentation of activities and funds as required by Academy policy.
• Communicating fundraising information with families.
• Ensuring all fundraising activities receive administrative approval before implementation.

Technology Expectations

Applicants must be computer literate and comfortable using technology as part of everyday instruction and administrative responsibilities.

Candidates should be able to use or quickly learn:

• Computers and laptops
• Web-based educational platforms
• Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace
• Word processing and spreadsheets
• Email and electronic communication
• Digital curriculum and instructional resources
• Online assessment platforms
• Student information and attendance systems
• Classroom presentation technology

The instructor must be willing to learn additional Academy technology platforms as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must:

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent; college coursework or a degree is preferred.
• Demonstrate proficiency in core K–5 academic subjects.
• Have strong reading, writing, mathematics, and communication skills.
• Be capable of developing written lesson plans.
• Be comfortable managing and supervising groups of children.
• Be computer literate.
• Demonstrate patience and professionalism when working with children.
• Be willing to work with scholars with diverse learning and support needs.
• Be dependable and punctual.
• Have strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Be able to communicate effectively with parents and coworkers.
• Be willing to participate in Academy events, field trips, fundraisers, training, and professional development.
• Successfully complete all required background checks and employment screening.

No state teaching license is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates who have:

• Previous teaching, tutoring, childcare, youth-development, mentoring, after-school, camp, or classroom experience.
• Experience working with elementary-aged children.
• Experience supporting children with disabilities or learning differences.
• Experience working with IEPs or 504 accommodations.
• College coursework in education, child development, psychology, social work, or a related field.
• Experience developing lesson plans or educational activities.
• Strong classroom-management skills.
• Experience planning field trips, student activities, or fundraising initiatives.

Physical & Supervisory Expectations

The position may require the employee to:

• Stand or walk for extended periods during the school day.
• Move throughout classrooms and other Academy spaces.
• Supervise scholars during classroom activities, meals, transitions, field trips, outdoor activities, and special events.
• Occasionally lift or move classroom materials and supplies.
• Respond appropriately during emergencies and follow Academy safety procedures.

Work Schedule & Compensation

Pay Rate: $14.00 per hour
Expected Hours: Approximately 30–40 hours per week

Weekly hours may vary based on the Academy calendar, enrollment, special programs, field trips, events, and operational needs.
