Education Specialist- Youth Education Services Jobs in Amarillo, TX at Catholic Charities of the Texas Panhandle
Position Purpose:
This multifaceted position entails dual responsibilities: managing a caseload of families who are experiencing crises and integration matters related to Educational Systems in the United States and facilitating the Refugee School Impact (RSI) program to promote effective integration, education, and English language skills for students aged birth to eighteen. The Education Specialist will play a vital role in guiding clients towards achieving academic and personal excellence in their new environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Develop program curriculum and lesson plans for After School Programming and any necessary tutoring.
● Plan and facilitate educational-related outings and orientations, both for students and guardians.
● Record student attendance/progress and document all interaction per case notes.
● Manage and maintain client files, ensuring adherence to established guidelines and updating them on a regular basis in applicable software such as ClientTrack and Google Drive.
● Schedule and Complete student program enrollment/intakes per program requirements.
● Establish communication channels through phone calls and home visits to ensure consistent client contact and follow-up.
● Facilitate regular communication with students to provide guidance, support, and encouragement.
● Foster positive relationships with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
● Collaborate with program staff, providing activity updates and receiving constructive feedback.
● Procure necessary school supplies and backpacks for clients when required.
● Coordinate transportation arrangements, working closely with the logistics for RSI and education program-related activities.
● Attend mandatory agency meetings and training sessions.
● Provide crisis and educational case management as needed per service plans.
● Enroll students in school and act as a liaison between students, parents, and school, including but not limited to assisting in facilitating parent-teacher conferences and ensuring student/family linguistic needs are met.
● Ensure student immunizations are up to date prior to school enrollment.
● Coordinate tutoring schedule.
● Work closely with Amarillo ISD to retrieve information needed for clients.
● Provide training to AISD educators.
● Uphold strict confidentiality in line with contractual obligations and agency policies.
● Demonstrate consistent dedication to achieving program outcomes and fulfilling time commitments.
● Undertake other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor(s).
Qualifications:
● Proficient in English, encompassing speaking, reading, and writing skills.
● High School Diploma Required. Bachelor’s degree in education or social services or a related field preferred.
● Demonstrate understanding of Refugees and Refugee Resettlement processes.
● Competent in using Google Drive and some Microsoft Office Suite programs.
● Exceptional organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
● Proficient in written communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving.
● Display a proactive and positive work attitude.
● Exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and exhibit professionalism consistently.
● Capable of working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
● Preferred experience in Case Management and Grant Management (not mandatory).
● Exhibits fairness, honesty, and open communication with colleagues.
● Effective time management and organizational abilities.
● Flexibility to participate in some evening and weekend activities, outings, and field trips.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
