Purpose of this Role
The Development Director ensures thefinancial stabilityand long-termsustainabilityof Neighborhood House through ethical andimpactfulfundraising efforts. As a passionate advocate for the organization, the Development Director advances the organization’s mission by fostering trust and demonstrating integrity. This role is responsible for developing and overseeing fundraising andcommunicationstrategies that align with Neighborhood House’s strategic goals, and effectively managing the Development team.
This position requires a perceptive, creative and strategic thinker, capable of leading the organization through meaningful growth.
Primary Responsibilities
Develops a comprehensive annual fundraising plan that includes individual donor giving, major gifts, planned gifts, corporate and business partnerships, grants, and special events.
Grows Annual Fund (currently $1 million) while completing a $7+ million capital campaign.
Creates and implements a multi-year organizational development plan to meet strategic goals, leveraging data for forecasting, activity tracking, and accountability.
Oversees the planning and successful execution of fundraising events incollaborationwith the Development team.
Develops acommunicationand marketing plan to ensure cohesive messaging for all programs and services. Oversees internal messaging and information sharing; messaging to donors and stakeholders; andcommunicationto the public at large.
Crafts a compelling case for supporting NH and its programs, engaging the community in philanthropic support through individual, foundation, corporate, and business support.
Manages a portfolio of major donors and oversees strategies for a large base of annual individual donors. Connects Neighborhood House’s mission to the donor/funder’s philanthropic goals and ambitions.
Develops fundraising materials (digital, print, video, etc.) incollaborationwith the Development team, including annual fund and mail/email/social media campaigns.
Creates and implements major donor strategies based on donor capacity, overseeing all stages of the gift cycle and nurturing donor relationships.
Monitors fundraising results and reports progress toSenior Leadershipand the Board of Directors.
Leads evaluation of fundraising processes and outcomes to ensure decision-making is informed and data-driven.
Implements an effective system for donor acknowledgement,recognition, and stewardship.
Collaborates withSenior Leadershipto develop and manage Development budget, including forecasting revenue and expenses, tracking expenses, reconciling finance and gift reporting, and periodic progress reporting.
