Position Summary

The Director of Business Operations is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the financial and operational wellbeing of the Hawbridge School. Working within Hawbridge’s collaborative leadership model as a co-equal member of the leadership team alongside the Upper & Lower School Directors, the Director of Business Operations will lead and supervise the Financial & Operations team, identify and act on opportunities to better enrollment, funding and programming and work closely with stakeholders to maintain a clear and sustainable financial and operational outlook in relation to enrollment, staffing, budgeting and capital improvements. The Director of Business Operations will meet enrollment and fundraising goals by developing a cohesive marketing strategy and unified voice across web, social media, and in-person events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with board treasurer and school accountant to understand the school’s financial performance.
  • Collaborate to develop a school budget that reflects the needs of teachers and staff to ensure they have the necessary resources.
  • Devise a strategic enrollment plan for the school, including attracting diverse student and staff populations.
  • Collaborate with the Board finance committee and parent organizations to plan major fundraising campaigns and associated events.
  • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities including applying for and managing grants.
  • Oversee annual audit.
  • Coordinate applicable responses/reports/documents to the NC Department of Public Instruction and Board of Directors.
  • Collaborate with leadership on school-wide messaging for internal and external communications, including web and social media presence.
  • Develop and execute a marketing strategy that directly supports enrollment and fundraising targets.
  • Coordinate recruitment and fundraising events and build community partnerships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s Degree a plus.
  • Experience in leadership roles, ideally in development, business development, or operations.
  • 3-5 years of experience in school operations, nonprofit administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with marketing, communications and fundraising and grant writing.
  • Familiarity with Charter School Landscape is a plus.

Compensation

  • Salary range $75,000 to $80,000 per year, dependent on experience.
