Role Description
This is a part-time on-site role for a Direct Support Professional based in Orangeburg, NY. Responsibilities include providing direct care and support to individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses assisting with daily living activities, fostering independence, implementing individual care plans, and maintaining a safe, positive environment. The role involves collaboration with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams to promote the well-being and development of residents.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge or experience in Human Services with a focus on supporting individuals with mental illness or intellectual disabilities.
- Excellent Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to foster trusting relationships with residents, families, and team members.
- Experience or willingness to provide relevant Training to individuals and teams related to care and support.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and maintain a compassionate and patient demeanor.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in human services or related fields is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required.
