About the Organization: We Are Family (WAF) is South Carolina’s oldest nonprofit that provides life affirming and life-saving programs for LGBTQ+ young people that have a lasting and measurable impact, with a focus on those who are BIPOC and/or low-income. Founded in 1995, we cultivate affirming statewide programs and community initiatives for SC’s young people up to the age of 24 focused on: (1) leadership development and social support; (2) health and wellness; and (3) movement building and advocacy. Our vision is that LGBTQ+ young people and allies feel empowered to find their places in their families, in their communities, and in the world.

WAF is hiring a Development Director, Closet Case Retail Manager, Communications & Community Engagement Manager, and Community Center Administrative Coordinator to help strengthen our fundraising, storytelling, community center operations, and mission-aligned social enterprise work in support of LGBTQ+ young people across South Carolina.

Development Director
Salary range: $60,000–$70,000 annually
This role leads WAF’s development, donor engagement, sponsorship, social enterprise, fundraising communications, and community-based revenue strategy. The position supports long-term sustainability through individual giving, major donor systems, monthly giving, donor stewardship, campaigns, sponsorships, fundraising events, CRM management, and coordinated communications.
Closet Case Retail Manager
Salary range: $50,000–$60,000 annually
This role leads the daily operations, revenue strategy, merchandising, community visibility, and mission-aligned growth of Closet Case Thrift. The position oversees retail operations, donation flow, inventory systems, store presentation, sales strategy, pop-up markets, quarterly Rainbow Markets, Pride/Closet Case merchandise, cashier accountability, financial documentation, and supervision of the Closet Case Associate.
Communications & Community Engagement Manager
Salary range: $50,000–$60,000 annually
This role leads WAF’s day-to-day communications, storytelling, digital presence, brand consistency, newsletter production, public relations support, and community-facing outreach. The position connects program visibility, donor stewardship, youth safety, community engagement, and organizational storytelling.
Community Center Administrative Coordinator
Salary range: $45,000–$55,000 annually
This role serves as the administrative backbone of WAF’s Community Center. The position manages day-to-day center administration, calendars, reservations, info@ routing, mail, volunteer coordination, supplies, room readiness, office organization, and administrative support across teams.
