The Development Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting donor engagement and fundraising efforts that directly help accelerate scientific breakthroughs and improve lives.

Position Overview

The Development Coordinator serves as an important operational partner within NETRF’s Development team, supporting donor engagement, stewardship, fundraising operations coordination, and development communications. This role helps provide the essential organizational support that enables the Development program to function effectively and responsively.

Working closely with the Chief Development Officer and external development operations contractor, the Development Coordinator helps coordinate donor relations, including stewardship activities, reports, acknowledgments, prospect research, and development projects. The role works collaboratively across Development, Communications, Patient Education, Research, Finance, and other partners to support effective fundraising operations and donor engagement.

The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.

This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, responsive, detail-oriented, and enjoys supporting donor relationships and mission-driven fundraising work. This full-time position follows a hybrid schedule, with an expectation of approximately two to three days per week in NETRF’s office. NETRF’s office is south of Boston in Quincy MA, accessible by public transportation.

Key Responsibilities

Donor Relations & Stewardship

  • Respond to donor inquiries related to gifts, acknowledgments, tribute gifts, and donor records in a timely and professional manner 
  • Coordinate with development operations contractor to help ensure timely and accurate donor acknowledgments, tribute processing, and donor communications 
  • Assist with stewardship communications, including thank-you letters, emails, tribute acknowledgments, and donor follow-up 
  • Help coordinate donor impact reports and stewardship materials 
  • Track and help coordinate donor stewardship activities, follow-up actions, and reporting timelines 
  • Support donor mailings and outreach efforts throughout the year 

Development Operations Coordination

  • Serve as a primary liaison with NETRF’s external development operations contractor
  • Coordinate requests related to gift processing, reports, acknowledgments, tribute gifts, and donor records 
  • Help ensure timely communication and follow-up between internal staff and external partners 
  • Review gift and donor reports provided by external development operations contractor
  • Maintain organized tracking systems and accurate development records related to donor activity, stewardship actions, reports, and projects in NETRF’s Raiser’s Edge database
  • Support tracking and organization of development program priorities, timelines, and follow-up actions 

Prospect Research Support

  • Support prospect research efforts through background research, donor briefing preparation, and coordination with development operations contractor 
  • Help organize and prioritize prospect and donor information to support fundraising outreach and engagement 
  • Assist with donor briefing materials, meeting preparation, and portfolio tracking
  • Support proposal tracking and donor engagement activities 

Communications Support

  • Assist with drafting, proofreading, and coordinating development content for monthly newsletters, donor outreach, event materials, and campaign mailings. 
  • Help coordinate timelines, content collection, and follow-up for development communications projects 
  • Help ensure consistency, accuracy, and timely follow-up across donor communications initiatives 

Event & Administrative Support

  • Support logistics for donor events, meetings, webinars, and other development activities 
  • Assist with scheduling, RSVP tracking, and preparation of meeting materials 
  • Coordinate mailings, printed materials, and other development-related administrative projects 
  • Help maintain inventory of development and office materials and assist with ordering supplies, as needed 
  • Attend and support NETRF events, as needed 
  • Provide general administrative and organizational support as needed 

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in development, donor relations, or fundraising operations
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft professional donor correspondence 
  • Professional, responsive, and donor-centered approach 
  • Ability to exercise professionalism, discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment when handling donor communications and sensitive information 
  • Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset 
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge 
  • Experience with prospect research tools such as iWave/Kindsight
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

Compensation

Salary range: $60,000–$70,000, commensurate with experience.

This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits including medical/dental, 401K plan, flexible spending account, paid vacation and holidays, and professional development opportunities. Attendance at NETRF events such as educational and scientific conferences is required.
