Role Description The Community Outreach Coordinator is a full-time, hybrid role based in Monterey, CA, with some work-from-home flexibility. This role involves planning and executing outreach activities, including community events, workshops, and informational sessions that promote Monterey Bay AI’s programs and mission. The coordinator will build and maintain relationships with local organizations, schools, volunteers, and community groups, and serve as a primary point of contact for partnerships and collaborations. Day-to-day tasks include organizing volunteer efforts, managing outreach communications (email, social media, and newsletters), tracking participation and feedback, and supporting grant or donor communications related to community initiatives. The role also includes collaborating with internal teams to align outreach efforts with program goals and reporting on outreach impact to leadership.
Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to inclusive, respectful engagement with diverse communities.
  • Excellent communication abilities, including clear written and verbal communication and public speaking comfort.
  • Demonstrated cooperation and collaboration skills when working with staff, volunteers, and external partners.
  • Experience or interest in community outreach, including planning and conducting community-facing events and programs.
  • Volunteer management experience or the ability to recruit, organize, and support volunteers effectively.
  • Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with common office and communication tools (e.g., email platforms, spreadsheets, presentation software; familiarity with social media is a plus).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as Communications, Nonprofit Management, Education, or Community Development) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Interest in artificial intelligence, technology education, or nonprofit work; prior experience in these areas is beneficial but not required.
  • Ability to work on-site in Monterey, CA on a regular basis and to work independently when remote.
