About SisTers PGH

SisTers PGH is a Black and trans-led nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse people throughout Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, with priority given to Black and Brown transgender communities.

Through housing, resource navigation, basic-needs assistance, community programming, leadership development, and direct support, SisTers PGH works to create pathways toward safety, stability, self-sufficiency, and liberation.

Position Overview

The Community Empowerment Navigator (Case Manager) is a key member of SisTers PGH’s direct-services team and provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive case management and resource navigation to transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse community members.

This is a fully in-person position primarily stationed at Stonewall Inn Pittsburgh, SisTers PGH’s downtown community resource center. Stonewall Inn Pittsburgh serves as the Community Empowerment Navigator’s primary work location and home base.

The Community Empowerment Navigator provides case management and resource navigation to participants across three SisTers PGH programs:

  • Stonewall Inn Pittsburgh – SisTers PGH’s downtown community resource center and the Navigator’s primary work location.
  • Monica Roberts Place – SisTers PGH’s eight-unit apartment building providing longer-term housing and ongoing supportive services to program participants.
  • Project T – SisTers PGH’s transitional housing program supporting participants working toward stability and independent living.

In addition to being stationed at Stonewall Inn Pittsburgh, the Community Empowerment Navigator will have regularly scheduled days each week to be stationed at Monica Roberts Place and Project T to provide direct case management and participant support.

The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, dependable, community-centered, and able to maintain clear professional boundaries. They will bring a strong understanding of transgender and gender-diverse communities and the barriers that can affect access to housing, healthcare, employment, public benefits, and other resources.

Workplace Expectations

SisTers PGH is committed to maintaining a workplace and service environment grounded in dignity, accountability, confidentiality, professionalism, harm reduction, and respect.

Employees are expected to follow organizational policies and procedures, maintain professional boundaries with program participants, complete required documentation, communicate concerns through appropriate supervisory channels, maintain reliable attendance, and contribute to a safe and supportive environment for participants and colleagues.

Our Commitment to Representative Leadership

SisTers PGH is proudly Black and trans-led, and we believe the people most impacted by inequity should have meaningful opportunities to participate in the work of building solutions for their communities.

Transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse people are strongly encouraged to apply. We particularly encourage applications from Black, Brown, Indigenous, and other people of color, as well as people with lived experience connected to the communities and systems our organization serves.

Applicants are evaluated based on their qualifications, experience, skills, and ability to successfully perform the responsibilities of the position.
