Schedule

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of three (3) days in-office based out of our West Sacramento office and two (2) days working remotely.

Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to step into our new Accounting Supervisor position to oversee our Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable/Billing (A/R) functions while also performing key Senior Accountant responsibilities. This position reports directly to the Director, Accounting. This role is ideal for an ambitious accounting professional eager to grow in their career, refine their leadership skills and make a meaningful impact in a dynamic environment.

As the Accounting Supervisor, you will ensure accuracy and compliance in A/P and A/R operations, review data entry for correctness in coding and dates, and take charge of journal entries, bank reconciliations, and month-end close reconciliations. You will work closely with the Director, Accounting to maintain financial integrity, optimize processes and support the company’s continued growth.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Supervisory Duties

Oversee A/P and A/R teams, ensuring accurate and timely invoice processing, vendor payments and customer billings.
Review data entries for correct coding, proper dates and accurate classifications to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Troubleshoot discrepancies, resolve invoicing/payment issues and support cash flow management.
Implement and refine processes to improve efficiency and accuracy in transaction processing.
Train and mentor accounting team members, ensuring best practices and knowledge sharing.
Participate in system implementations and process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Work cross-functionally with other departments to support financial reporting and operational needs.
Stay updated on accounting standards and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.

Senior Accountant Duties

Prepare and post journal entries with proper support and analysis.
Perform bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of variances.
Lead month-end close procedures, prepare reconciliations for key accounts and ensuring financials are accurate and complete.
Assist in preparing financial reports, variance analysis and supporting schedules for management.
Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal controls, recommending improvements where needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
Public accounting experience is a plus.
3-5 years of accounting experience, with supervisory and/or review experience.
Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls and month-end close procedures.
Excellent attention to detail with a strong ability to identify and correct errors.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with ERP accounting systems.
Ability to prioritize, multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and leadership skills to manage and mentor junior team members.
A proactive, analytical mindset with a drive for process improvement and career growth.
This position is contingent on the ability to pass a background and credit check upon accepting an offer.
Employee must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds, hand truck available to assist.
Must be able to sit at computer for long periods of time and have the dexterity to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator, and operate standard office equipment.
Employee is personally responsible for following health and safety guidelines, instructions, and policies.
Work occasional extended hours, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays for activities that are required to be done after-hours.
Limited vacation during peak periods.
