Informed by a deep understanding of the adolescent experience and grounded in Hawaiian culture, the new LC will provide Hawaiian youth with opportunities to connect to peers and mentors, receive supportive services, and discover pathways to passion,purpose, and prosperity. LC will be LT’s signature youth development hub for culture, creativity, technology, and play, and will serve as a resource center where youth can connect to vital supports and avibrant community.
LC will be a safe space located in urban Honolulu where youth are inspired to pursue their dreams, including exploring pathways in the arts, sports, technology, and entrepreneurship while receiving wraparound support to help them reach their goals and become thriving adults. A primary function of LC will be to provide a space for young people to play, to learn, to find connection and inspiration, and to experience joy.
Currently under construction, LC is set to open in Spring of 2025.
JobPurpose:
The YouthLeadershipCoordinator will oversee the Nā Leo o Kamakaʻeha cohorts, working closely with the YouthLeadershipManager to establish a vision and strategy for the development of youthleadershipprogramming, a newly launched initiative focused on individuals aged 16-26. This position will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing high-quality, statewide programs that are responsive, accessible, and engaging for youth within this age range.
The Coordinator will collaborate with statewide teams to create opportunities for youth engagement andleadership, ensuring youth representation in decision-making and program design and implementation. Additionally, the position will support the development of a peer mentor program that equips aspiring youth leaders with the skills and competencies needed to prepare them for future employment. Working with statewide Kīpuka, Lydia House, Liliʻuokalani Center, Early Childhood, and Liliʻuonamoku teammates, the coordinator will ensure that youthleadershipprogramming is culturally resonant and aligned with Liliʻuokalani Trust’s mission and values.
They will also engage in ongoingquality assuranceand program evaluation efforts to ensure lasting impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with LTleadershipto establish a statewide vision for youthleadershipand peer mentor programming.
Design and implement creative andcollaborativestrategies to engage youth inleadershipprogramming.
Developleadershipprograms within a statewide framework, fostering connections to local communities while cultivating a sense of statewide belonging and influence.
Work with teammates to identify and cultivate relevant community partnerships that may provide opportunities for youthleadership.
Partner with LT teammates to implementimpactfulpeer and adultmentorship programs, creating opportunities for participants to build lasting, positive relationships with youth and adult mentors in areas of professional and personal interest.
Through intentional program design and implementation, foster asense of community, belonging, and social and emotional support for participants.
Stay attuned to current youth interests, challenges, and trends.
Create and maintain regular opportunities for youthleadership, voice, andempowermentby fostering the knowledge, attitudes, skills, and actions needed for youth to motivate, inform, and inspire others.
