Position: Youth Engagement Advocate for Democracy
Join the Electoral Commission as a Youth Advocate, dedicated to motivating young people in New Zealand to engage with the electoral process. This role focuses on building inclusive connections and community relationships.
You will work closely with our Community Engagement Team in this 30-hour fixed-term role. Your responsibilities include organizing activities for rangatahi, leading community engagement, and promoting participation for the 2026 General Election. The salary ranges from $61,550 to $68,390, depending on your experience and skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Raise awareness of GE26 through community outreach

• Document and maintain community engagement records

• Generate high-quality reports for internal use

• Advise on successful youth engagement techniques

• Plan and execute community youth events
Requirements:

• Strong ties within local communities

• Effective communicator with diverse audiences

• Self-motivated with flexible problem-solving skills

• Experience in organizing events for youth

• Willingness to travel for engagement activities
