Role Description The Youth Development Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Missouri City, TX. This position focuses on supporting children and youth experiencing housing instability through individualized goal-setting, mentoring, and positive youth development activities. Daily responsibilities include planning and facilitating educational and enrichment programs, coordinating tutoring or academic support, and connecting youth and families with appropriate community resources. The Youth Development Specialist will collaborate closely with families, school staff, and partner agencies to address barriers to success, track progress, and ensure continuity of care. The role also involves maintaining accurate documentation, participating in case conferences, and contributing to program improvement efforts.
Qualifications
- Strong Positive Youth Development and Youth Development skills, with experience designing and implementing age-appropriate activities and supports.
- Excellent Communication skills, including the ability to build trust with youth, families, and community partners.
- Background in Education and Training, such as facilitating workshops, tutoring, or academic enrichment programs.
- Experience working with children and youth facing housing instability, trauma, or other barriers to success is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and basic computer skills (e.g., email, word processing, data entry).
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Youth Development, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and strengths-based, culturally responsive practice with diverse communities.
