WIC Nurse Coordinator Department: WIC Morgan Street Clinic Reports to: COO, CEO Full-time with benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Pension, Vacation, Sick, Holiday, and Personal Time
Pay Scale: $28.00 – $34.00/hour Compensation based on experience and qualifications Non-union position
Under the direct supervision of the MCPHD Administrator, the WIC Registered Nurse Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, directing and carrying out all activities involved in the WIC nutrition program in compliance with all federal, state and local regulations and policies:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- An associates or bachelor’s degree with the following specialties: Unencumbered IL State Registered Nurse License
- Able to obtain a minimum qualification of a WIC Qualified Health Professionals (CHP) (see Part 1, section 8.1. Rose of Certifying Health Professional and 8.1.A CHP qualifications)
- Able to administer immunizations
- Understanding and knowledge of the Illinois LEAD program
- Facilitate work output and interpret agency policies to staff
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, school, community leaders, professional government officials, and the medical community available to the WIC populations
- Familiarity with the medical-legal aspects of public health nursing
- Grant writing skills
- Evaluation and quality enhancement skills for the WIC Program
- Ability to be mobile without any limitations or restrictions
- Must be up-to-date on all immunizations and vaccinations
- Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Must have a valid government-issued photo ID
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK
- Directs and coordinates activities of assigned WIC staff.
- Interviews and recommends employment of qualified persons for the WIC program
- Decision making and leadership skills
- Manages the LEAD program according to all State and Federal guidelines including conducting home visits as needed
- Has read, reviewed and agrees to work and support the mission statement of MCPHD
- Has read, understands and functions within Health Department Policy and Procedures, and HIPAA requirements
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
