POSITION SUMMARY
The We CANN Program Director provides leadership and day-to-day oversight of Community Action of Greater Indianapolis’ (CAGI) We CANN program. The Director is responsible for ensuring participants successfully move from enrollment and assessment through individualized planning, cohort programming, workforce preparation, career pathways, employment placement, and retention.
We CANN utilizes a Safe, Alive, and Productive approach to support young adults who may face significant barriers to employment, including justice-system involvement, housing instability, limited work experience, transportation barriers, educational needs, and other challenges.
The Program Director leads program staff, manages program operations and performance, develops employer and community partnerships, oversees workforce development activities, monitors grants and budgets, and ensures the program achieves measurable participant outcomes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PROGRAM LEADERSHIP & STAFF SUPERVISION
Provide overall leadership and day-to-day management of the We CANN program.
Supervise and support program staff, including Success Coaches/Case Managers.
PARTICIPANT SERVICES & SUPPORT
Oversee participant enrollment, Individual Action Plans (IAPs), case management, cohort participation, supportive services, and follow-up.
Ensure participants are connected to appropriate barrier-reduction and supportive services.
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT & PERFORMANCE OUTCOMES
Monitor participant engagement, program completion, employment placement, retention, and other performance outcomes.
Oversee job readiness, career pathways, occupational training, certifications, work experiences, and apprenticeship opportunities.
PARTNERSHIP & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Build and maintain relationships with employers, training providers, workforce organizations, and community partners.
Represent We CANN at community, employer, workforce, and partner meetings.
GRANT, BUDGET & DATA ACCOUNTABILITY
Manage program grants, deliverables, reporting requirements, and compliance.
Monitor the program budget and expenditures in coordination with the Director of Programs & Impact and Finance Department.
Track program data and prepare performance and outcome reports for leadership, funders, and other stakeholders.
PROGRAM QUALITY & SUSTAINABILITY
Identify opportunities to strengthen program quality, partnerships, participant outcomes, and long-term sustainability.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Learning & Development, Organizational Psychology, Community Development, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Demonstrated experience as a Learning & Development Director, Training Manager, Community Organizer, Community Builder, or similar leadership role.
Strong knowledge of traditional and modern learning methods, including workshops, simulations, e-learning, coaching, and mentorship models.
Experience managing budgets, projects, and cross-functional initiatives.
Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and learning analytics tools.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and leadership skills.
INDEPENDENT ACTIONS AND JUDGEMENT
Actions are controlled by Community Action policies and procedures, and by-laws governing non-profit organizations.
WORKING RELATIONSHIP
Work with all levels of management, Community Action personnel, and general public. Position demands high levels of courtesy, diplomacy and tact.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a standard office environment. May be required to work, beyond regular office hours to meet deadlines and the needs of the population the organization serves
Pay: $60,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year
