Youth in the East Bay are in desperate need of caring adults like YOU.
This is an in-person mentoring program where you will spend time with your mentee exploring, talking, and learning about them. You might play basketball together, work on homework, or just try new foods. There is no set curriculum (don’t worry, we have activities you can do if you get stuck) but there is a lot of freedom to do anything that interests you both.
What
we’re looking for:
Caring adults 21 or over who have reliable access to a car
Someone who is empathetic, a good listener, and wants to make a difference in a young person’s life.
Mission Statement
The Be A Mentor Program pairs caring adult volunteers from the community with youth in one-to-one relationships. Mentors give of their time to be a friend, answering questions, and providing guidance. Mentors come from a variety of backgrounds and occupations and volunteer their personal time to be a caring friend to a youth. They serve as a role model, advocate, and resource.
The purpose of the mentoring relationship is to help youth develop their full potential, both in and outside of the classroom.
