Do you want to be personally involved in helping someone? Do you want to bear witness to a victim’s journey to safety? Be a hero to a domestic violence survivor by driving them to safety! You choose the distance you’re willing to travel – whether across town or across the country – and Families to Freedom handles the rest. We’re looking for each volunteer to complete 2 rides per week.
You’ll pick up the survivor from a safe public location and drive them to a crisis center or family home far away. Volunteer safety is our #1 priority! This mission is important and only possible with YOU as our volunteer driver.
We provide and install child car seats for those traveling with children. We reimburse for the cost of gas and tolls (or use one of our vehicles).

Our mission is to transport victims of domestic abuse to safety.
Description
Families to Freedom provides free transportation services to victims and their children who have experienced domestic abuse. We make it possible for victims and new survivors to get far away from abusive relationships. Our life-saving services include car rides to domestic violence shelters across the region, road trips to family homes in other states, multi-state bus tickets, and fuel assistance to relocate far away.
We serve victims and new survivors across North Texas, East Texas, and the Gulf Coast area. We drive over 900 victims and children each year between two offices located in Dallas and Houston. We rely on the generous support of the community to continue providing these services at no cost to the victims who call us.
WHEN
We’ll work with your schedule. Weekdays – Daytime and Evening;
Weekend – Daytime and Evening.
