About the role:

The Placentia Library District seeks volunteers to serve the community’s information and literacy needs through various programs, operations, and events.

Volunteers will help non-native English speakers improve their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

No prior experience is necessary—just enthusiasm and dedication! Volunteers should:

Tutor at least once a week (1-2 hours per session).

Commit to a minimum of 6 months or longer.

Complete a training process before starting.

Participate in meetings every 6-8 weeks.

Check email regularly.

Requirements:

Be 18 years or older.

Read, write, and speak English clearly.

Have basic computer skills.

After training, you will be matched with a learner based on your availability. Tutoring occurs at the library, with basic learning materials provided. Support is available from literacy staff throughout the program.
