Conversations to Remember is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing senior loneliness and social isolation through meaningful virtual connections with college and high school students. The organization coordinates weekly video calls where small groups of 2–3 student volunteers build lasting intergenerational relationships with older adults. These conversations improve seniors’ well-being by providing companionship, social support, and mental stimulation, while giving student volunteers valuable experience in communication, empathy, leadership, and community service.

Role Description:

The Volunteer Student Outreach role helps expand Conversations to Remember’s mission by recruiting new student volunteers and building partnerships with colleges, universities, faculty, and student organizations. Volunteers research outreach opportunities, use organization-provided email templates, track outreach efforts, and follow up with prospective partners.

Student Outreach Volunteers also schedule and lead virtual meetings, present the organization’s mission, goals, and volunteer opportunities to faculty and student organizations, answer questions from prospective volunteers, and help develop new outreach strategies. Training, outreach materials, and presentation resources are provided. This is a fully remote volunteer position that can be performed from anywhere in the United States with a reliable internet connection.

Qualifications:

  • Comfortable using email, spreadsheets, video conferencing platforms, and online research tools.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Comfortable presenting to faculty, student organizations, and campus partners in virtual meetings.
  • Professional, organized, and dependable with strong follow-up skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with a remote team while following organizational policies and guidelines.

Commitment:

  • Approximately 10 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
  • Volunteer and internship opportunities available.
  • Volunteer hours can be verified and certified.

Requirement:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must reside in the United States.
  • This is a fully remote, unpaid volunteer position.
