The Borgen Project believes that leaders of the most powerful nations on earth should be doing more to address global poverty. The national campaign is working to make poverty a focus of U.S. and U.K. foreign policy.

The Borgen Project is an international organization that works at the political level to improve living conditions for people impacted by war, famine, and poverty.

With 20 years of experience in advocacy, The Borgen Project has supported the passage of numerous bills benefiting nearly 500 million people in developing countries.

Political Affairs Program

This role focuses on making poverty a priority in U.S., Canadian, and U.K. foreign policy. It is a part-time, unpaid, remote program requiring 12 hours per week for 12 weeks. If your availability is limited, you can work ahead and complete the program sooner.

Responsibilities include:

Leading public and political outreach in your state and district.

Meeting with members of Congress or government officials in your area.

Representing The Borgen Project at various events.

Assisting with fundraising by creating personal campaigns and meeting targets.

Mobilizing individuals to contact their representatives in support of poverty-reduction legislation.

Speaking to groups, classes, and organizations.

Writing letters of support to political leaders, media, and other groups.

Experience

No prior experience is necessary. We seek passionate individuals committed to fighting poverty and social justice, regardless of GPA or background.

This is an unpaid opportunity; college credit may be available.

Start Date

Programs begin monthly; you may choose your start month.
