African Ancestry Link is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting Heritage, Health, and Home by bridging the gap between Africans on the continent and those in the diaspora through accessible DNA testing, health education, and cultural reconnection.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Health to join our leadership team on a volunteer basis. This is not a paid position, but it is a meaningful opportunity to lead and shape impactful health-related initiatives that will benefit African and diaspora communities worldwide.
The Director of Health will play a key role in guiding the health component of our pilot DNA testing programs, with a focus on hereditary health awareness, disease prevention, and community wellness.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership for all health-related initiatives
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, researchers, and partner organizations
Develop and oversee educational content on genetics and public health
Support DNA health reporting, genetic counseling partnerships, and wellness programs
Assist with grant writing and public health outreach
Represent African Ancestry Link in relevant health and wellness spaces
Ideal Candidate:
Background in public health, genetics, nursing, medicine, or a related field
Passionate about health equity and African diaspora wellness
Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
Comfortable working remotely and independently
Prior experience in nonprofit or global health is a plus
