About the Role:

The Volunteer Manager plays a pivotal role in the successful operation and growth of our volunteer programs across the United States. This position is responsible for recruiting, training, and retaining a diverse group of volunteers who are essential to achieving the organization’s mission. The Volunteer Manager will develop and implement strategies to engage volunteers effectively, ensuring their contributions are meaningful and aligned with organizational goals. They will also oversee volunteer scheduling, track participation metrics, and provide ongoing support and recognition to maintain high volunteer morale. Ultimately, this role ensures that volunteer efforts are coordinated efficiently to maximize impact and foster a positive community environment.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, social work, human resources, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing volunteers or coordinating community programs.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using volunteer management software and standard office productivity tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within nonprofit organizations or community service programs.
  • Certification in volunteer management (e.g., CVA – Certified Volunteer Administrator).
  • Familiarity with diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices in volunteer engagement.
  • Experience with grant writing or fundraising related to volunteer programs.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and networks to enhance volunteer recruitment and partnerships.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive volunteer recruitment strategies to attract a diverse and committed volunteer base.
  • Coordinate and conduct orientation and training sessions to prepare volunteers for their roles and responsibilities.
  • Manage volunteer schedules, assignments, and communications to ensure smooth operations and adequate coverage for all programs.
  • Monitor volunteer performance and provide feedback, support, and recognition to encourage continued engagement and development.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, activities, and impact metrics to report to stakeholders and inform program improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to identify volunteer needs and opportunities for community involvement.
  • Address volunteer concerns and resolve conflicts promptly to maintain a positive and inclusive volunteer environment.
