Capturing Memories
If you are compassionate and enjoy photography, you could be a Photography Volunteer. Volunteers might be asked to attend special events such as Tea Parties and Veteran Pinning to photograph the patients in attendance. Families of patients might request that a volunteer capture a portrait of their loved one. We also host an event called Holding Hands, where we photograph patients holding the hands of their loved ones.
The photograph is then given to the family as a memento.
All volunteers must have their own equipment; cameras are NOT provided. We ask that photographs be donated and HIPAA patient privacy rules apply to the rights of prints.
Hours are flexible on weekdays, weekends, and evenings. We typically ask for 1-2 hours per week.
Elara Caring Hospice encourages a philosophy of care that assists patients, caregivers, family and friends during the final stages of terminal illness. Time is limited, yet of eternal value. What makes it so is how you use it and to whom you give it. Share your gift of time with a patient on their end-of-life journey. No special skills are necessary, just a listening ear and an open heart. It will be some of the most rewarding time you’ll ever spend.
Elara Caring Hospice is currently looking for Volunteers:
Companion Volunteers, Pet Therapy, Veteran Volunteers, Office Volunteers, and Crafting Volunteers. We have patients in need in outlying areas as well as the Grand Rapids Area. These areas include Grand Rapids, Big Rapids, Wayland/Hastings, Greenville, Rockford, Holland, and Saugatuck/Douglas.
