Position Summary
Crime Victim Center (CVC) is seeking an organized and creative Volunteer Coordinator to manage the recruitment, placement, onboarding, supervision, and support of volunteers and interns while also assisting with agency communications, marketing, and outreach. This position works closely with program staff, university partners, and agency leadership to support volunteer engagement and help communicate CVC’s work to the community through newsletters, social media, annual reports, and other marketing materials.
Essential Responsibilities Volunteer & Intern Coordination
- Respond to volunteer and intern inquiries received by email, phone, website form, university referral, or community referral.
- Review applications and resumes and conduct initial interviews.
- Match applicants with available CVC programs based on experience, interests, and schedule.
- Coordinate secondary interviews with program staff before placement.
- Coordinate and conduct volunteer and intern orientation.
- Maintain regular communication with active volunteers and interns.
- Support social work practicum students and coordinate required supervision, evaluations, learning agreements, and university documentation.
- Maintain relationships with local universities and field education programs.
- Maintain accurate volunteer and intern records in Google Drive.
- Collect and review monthly timesheets and track volunteer hours for agency and grant reporting.
- Coordinate final evaluations and closeout of volunteer and intern placements.
Communications, Marketing & Outreach
- Assist with planning and creating content for CVC’s social media platforms.
- Develop and schedule regular social media posts highlighting agency programs, services, events, community partnerships, volunteer opportunities, and other relevant information.
- Coordinate and prepare a monthly agency newsletter.
- Assist with development of the agency’s annual report, including gathering program information, statistics, accomplishments, stories, and other content from staff.
- Create or update flyers, outreach materials, volunteer recruitment materials, and other marketing content as needed.
- Work with program staff and leadership to gather information for public-facing communications.
- Help maintain consistent and accurate messaging about CVC’s mission, programs, and services.
- Support community outreach and awareness efforts as assigned.
- Assist with other communications or marketing projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, nonprofit management, communications, marketing, psychology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Strong organizational, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conduct interviews and assess volunteer or intern placement fit.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Comfort creating content for social media, newsletters, and other public-facing materials.
- Experience with Adobe, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace, including Google Drive, Gmail, Google Meet, and Google Forms.
- Ability to maintain confidential records and sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
- MSW degree preferred
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience working in a nonprofit or human-services setting.
- Experience with social media, newsletters, marketing, or communications.
- Experience working with university practicum programs.
- Social work background preferred due to CVC’s regular placement of social work students.
- Familiarity with victim services, domestic violence, sexual assault, or related fields.
