What are we looking for?
We would like a volunteer with governance experience. Key Responsibilities Governance Policies Develop, review, and enhance governance policies to ensure alignment with legal requirements and best practices in nonprofit management. Ethical Standards Uphold and promote ethical standards within the organization, fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and integrity. Board Member Responsibilities Provide guidance on the roles and responsibilities of board members, fostering a collaborative and engaged board environment. Strategic Planning Contribute to the development and execution of strategic plans, ensuring they align with the organization’s mission and long-term goals. Risk Management Assess and mitigate governance-related risks, offering insights to enhance the organization’s overall risk management framework.
What will you be doing?
The General Secretary is responsible for providing administrative, strategic, and operational support to the board and volunteers to ensure the smooth functioning of the organisation. This role is central to maintaining our governance standards, supporting our Board of Directors, and fostering clear communication across all levels. Governance Support – Organise, attend, and record minutes for Board meetings and other high-level discussions. – Maintain organisational records, including legal documentation, contracts, policies, and Board resolutions. Administrative Duties – Oversee operations, including handling correspondence, scheduling, and document management. – Help coordinating internal and external meetings, workshops, and events. – Manage a team of volunteers to support organisational needs. Communication and Stakeholder Engagement – Act as a point of contact for board members, donors, partners, and key stakeholders. Strategic Support – Assist the president in planning and implementing organisational strategies. – Monitor the progress of projects and initiatives, preparing regular progress reports for the Board. Financial Oversight -Work closely with the finance team to ensure financial documentation is accurate and up-to-date. -Oversee budgets related to administrative expenses and monitor expenditure against the budget. General enquiries Promptly respond to any general enquiries PWN London receives. This may involve some problem solving, including pulling in other Board Members and/or PWN Global Board to the discussion as appropriate. Community Manager / General support Provide ad-hoc support to other Board Members as needed, e.g. posting on social media, sending newsletters, in-person meet and greets at events, organising Board calendar, etc. Volunteer group on WhatsApp Website maintenance Support Board Members in maintaining the website, including ensuring the content is accurate and up-to-date, uploading new events and liaising with the support team to fix any issues.
