About Redeem These Ashes
Redeem These Ashes is a 501C3 nonprofit Christian ministry that emerged from the transformative journey of former Radio Host and Pastor, Joey Krol. After years of battling with pornography, which ultimately led to his arrest for a sex crime, Krol experienced a profound transformation while incarcerated. He found redemption and healing through Christ and dedicated himself to helping others break free from the devastating effects of sexual sin. Today, as a changed man, our Founder ministers to men and their families who have been impacted by this pervasive sin.
Vision: We envision a society free from the grip of pornography.
Mission Statement: Our mission is to educate on the dangers of pornography, advocate for its removal, and offer hope and healing through Jesus Christ, who empowers us to live a life of freedom.
What We Do
- Free Accountability App: We are developing In the Light, a free app to help individuals remain accountable as they navigate freedom from pornography.
- Education and Awareness: Our founder shares his powerful testimony at churches and events, equipping others to find freedom in Christ.
- Support for Fallen Pastors: We minister to pastors and ministry leaders who have experienced moral failure, helping them rediscover hope, redemption, and a restored relationship with Christ.
Position Overview: Redeem These Ashes is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Full Stack Software Engineer (KMP) to join our team.
We are developing an innovative accountability platform that works across devices and provides users with reports they can share with trusted accountability partners. What makes this project unique is our commitment to offering the software completely free of charge, with funding secured through donations and grants.
The project is set to be released by Q3 of 2027.
Under the direction of the team lead, key responsibilities include:
- Contribute to the development of the In the Light web and mobile platform.
- Work with the React/Vite frontend and Flask backend.
- Work with PostgreSQL databases.
- Contribute to Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) development.
- Write clean, maintainable, secure, and well-documented code.
- Participate in testing, deployment, and ongoing development.
- Ensure the software meets strong privacy, safety, and security standards.
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience with PostgreSQL databases.
- Experience with React/Vite and Thunk frontend development.
- Experience with Flask, Alembic, and SQLAlchemy.
- Experience with Kotlin, preferably Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP).
- Experience with Python.
- Experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
- Experience with CI/CD.
- Experience with Agile development practices and methodologies.
- Experience with Docker or similar containerization.
- Experience with application deployment.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Experience with testing libraries.
- Knowledge of safety and security best practices.
- Familiarity with Git/version control.
- Strong commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
- Someone who takes responsibility, says what they mean, and means what they say.
