Volunteer Engagement Manager

We are looking for a Volunteer Engagement Manager to join our Operations & Staff Team at Lean In Netherlands Randstad.
This role owns the post-onboarding volunteer journey; ensuring volunteers feel supported, connected, recognized, and aligned with our mission. The ideal candidate is highly organized, people-centered, proactive, and skilled at building community and systems.
This is a pro bono role that is based in the Netherlands, requiring about 5 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
Community & Culture Building
- Serve as primary point of contact for active volunteers
- Foster a strong sense of belonging among volunteers
- Organize volunteer appreciation and recognition initiatives
- Plan engagement events (virtual or in-person)
- Share impact stories and celebrate milestones
Volunteer Engagement & Retention
- Contribute and execute a volunteer engagement strategy
- Monitor engagement levels and proactively address disengagement
- Lead retention initiatives to improve retention rates
- Run exit interviews
Collaboration & Reporting
- Conduct volunteer satisfaction surveys
- Provide reports on engagement KPIs
- Recommend improvements based on data
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience in volunteer management, community management, or people operations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Data-driven mindset
- Experience in nonprofit environments
- Event planning experience
