Position Summary
Belong seeks a detail-oriented Volunteer Bookkeeper to support the organization’s financial management. This role is ideal for a retired professional, an experienced bookkeeper looking to give back, or someone seeking to maintain or grow their nonprofit financial skills in a meaningful, low-time-commitment role.
The Volunteer Bookkeeper will help maintain accurate financial records using Quick Books and work closely with the Executive Director and Board Treasurer to ensure timely and reliable financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update financial records in Quick Books
- Record and categorize income and expenses accurately
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly
- Assist with preparation of monthly financial reports for the Board Treasurer
- Support the annual budget tracking process
- Provide documentation and support for year-end financial reporting and Form 990 preparation
Qualifications
- Experience with bookkeeping or basic accounting principles
- Proficiency in Quick Books (or willingness to learn quickly)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with financial information
- Reliable and able to meet monthly deadlines to align with board meeting dates
- Comfort working independently with light supervision
Preferred (but not required)
- Experience working with a nonprofit organization
- Familiarity with nonprofit accounting practices
