GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Director of the Victim Assistance Program (VAP) through the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office is responsible for managing the Victim Assistance Program. This includes managing staff advocates, interns, and volunteers to provide high-quality direct support andadvocacyto individuals who have been impacted by crime. The position collaborates with community partners on issues relating to crime victimadvocacy. The director coordinates the DUII Victim Impact Panel and provides public presentations.
The Victim Assistance Program Director is responsible for writing grants to secure funding to support and expand victim services, monitors and coordinates grant expenditures and activities, and performs a variety of fiscal and administrative tasks, including the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and auditing of internal controls of grant activities. The Director assists in supporting victims through the prosecution of a criminal case and facilitates their participation in the criminal justice process.
REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION
The applicant must have a High School Diploma/GED, although a college degree is preferred. (EE)
Experience in public relations; ability to promote agency through the utilization of local resources; ability to train and coordinate volunteers on a variety of topics; and ability to work as a team member as well as independently. (EE)
Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system.
Knowledge and ability to perform secretarial work.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills.
Self-motivated and Detail-oriented.
Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
Ability to work as a team member as well as independently.
Establish and maintain appropriate, professional relationships with coworkers and outside agencies.
Ability to interact with the public in a pleasant, tactful, and courteous manner.
Experience using a computer, the internet, and general office skills are required.
The applicant must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
CJIS certification is preferred.
Two years of experience in the social service field and direct experience with crime victims is preferred.
