The Opportunity
As VP of Sales, you’ll be the architect and engine behind our revenue strategy. You’ll set the vision, build and scale a high-performing sales team, and drive complex, consultative deals in the $300K–$10M+ range. This is a unique opportunity for a sales leader who thrives in fast-paced startup environments and knows how to bring rigor, creativity, and mission-alignment to selling into state and local government.
What You’ll Do
Build & Lead the Sales Team – Recruit, train, and lead a top-tier sales organization focused on public sector clients, starting with ICs and scaling into a full org.
Drive Strategic Sales – Own the sales strategy for complex, high-value SaaS and technical solutions, including deal structuring, pricing, and negotiation.
Sell into State & Local Government & Nonprofits – Leverage your expertise in public sector sales to navigate contracting vehicles, teaming agreements, and partnerships with global systems integrators.
Coach & Enable – Onboard reps to go beyond basic pitch decks and develop deep technical fluency. Foster a culture of learning, performance, and continuous improvement.
Implement Scalable Processes – Develop and refine repeatable sales processes, playbooks, forecasting methods, and pipeline management systems.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally – Partner with Product, Marketing, and Partner Success teams to align on GTM, product-market fit, and customer feedback loops.
Own Revenue Outcomes – Set and exceed revenue targets, bringing discipline to quota setting, forecasting, and value-based selling.
Price with Precision – Design pricing strategies grounded in data, customer value, and long-term growth.
Who You Are
Proven quota-crusher as both an IC and sales leader
Experienced in building sales teams from scratch
Deep expertise in complex, consultative selling of technical solutions in the $300K–$10M+ range
Strong communicator and relationship builder with a high EQ and executive presence
Skilled in value-based and data-driven pricing strategies
Knowledgeable about government procurement, especially cooperative agreements, public-private partnerships, and teaming
Connected — with a strong network in the public sector, nonprofit sector and with global systems integrators
Experienced in ramping reps into technical fluency, not just playbook familiarity
Understands the competitive fintech landscape and knows how to differentiate strategically
Passionate coach and mentor, skilled in motivating and growing high-performance teams
Process-driven but agile; knows how to build for scale in a dynamic startup setting
Collaborative operator who aligns sales with product, marketing, and success functions
Thrives in ambiguity and fast-paced, mission-driven environments
Bonus Points If You Have
Experience selling fintech or payment solutions to government
Rolodex of state/local decision-makers or SIs
Background working in or with public sector finance or procurement offices
