People’s Resource Center (PRC) is seeking candidates who exhibit business and facility operations acumen for its Vice President of Operations position. The VP will lead PRC’s overall business operations functions including, Facilities, Office Operations, and fleet and equipment management. This role is part of PRC’s Senior Leadership team, and it will report to the CEO.

In 2024, PRC opened a new building on its Wheaton Campus, and with this addition, the business and facility operations became more complex with more square footage to manage, as well as additional equipment and vehicles. This role was created to provide additional leadership for PRC’s more complex business and operational needs.

This role will supervise the Business and Office Operations Manager and the Office Operations Supervisor, and the office will be on our Wheaton Campus, with the expectation that the candidate filling the role will have a regular presence at our Westmont location. The hired candidate will also have after hours, on-call responsibilities.

Salary range for this position is $95,000-$105,000.

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

People's Resource Center (PRC) is a nonprofit, social service organization founded in 1975 by community members looking to help neighbors who were facing financial hardship. Inspired by social justice heroes like Martin Luther King, Jr., Dorothy Day and Jane Addams, founders Dorothy McIntyre, Father Tom Peyton and a group of volunteers sought to do more than start a local food pantry. Our mission statement is: The People’s Resource Center exists to respond to basic human needs, promote dignity and justice, and create a future of hope and opportunity for the residents of DuPage County, Illinois.

A team of over 2000 volunteers, supported by 48 employees, work together to achieve this mission. PRC offers a wide range of emergency and empowerment services delivered by neighbors, free for all DuPage residents. These programs include:

Some of the duties of the role include:

  • Oversee the management of all PRC facilities and buildings, ensuring maintenance, function, safety, and security of facilities and buildings is appropriate and meets organizational needs
  • Oversee and ensure that all business and office operations processes and the operations team reflect a strong commitment to PRC's values and philosophy
  • Create and implement the annual vehicle maintenance plan, ensuring all vehicles are maintained and licensed appropriately and ensuring thorough record management
  • Create and implement annual plans for maintenance, upkeep, and replacement of all major equipment including but not limited to food pantry walk-ins, overhead doors, lift, baler, etc.
  • Create, implement, and oversee a process for continuous training related to all safety practices
  • Analyze and improve the organization's incident reporting processes, recommending changes and adjustments that ensure strong reporting, response, and analysis methodology
  • Function as a member of the Senior Leadership team, ensuring collaboration and a full understanding of the relationship between departments and teams

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • Eight (8) years of experience working in business operations required, preferably nonprofit
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience required
  • Experience with building and facilities management required
  • Experience working with volunteers preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage complex budgets
  • Ability to respond appropriately in varied situations
  • Advanced computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and Office 365 applications; knowledge of databases
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
