Job Summary
The Vice President of Advancement is responsible for creating the vision, mission and strategy for the development function, ultimately to enable the scale up of sustainable community justice transformation projects across South Asia and into new countries. This position will report to the COO and will serve on the executive leadership team. He/she will effectively network with high net-worth individuals and within corporate, foundation, business and non-profit circles to promote philanthropic awareness and a case for support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborates with the CEO, COO and Board of Directors to support the implementation of our 5-year strategic plan and annual plans.
Builds out the foundations/grants strategy, ensuring that existing foundations continue to experience excellence in reporting and future partnership.
Supervises, mentors and grows the major donor team.
Collaborates with Senior Communications Officer to ensure effective engagement with clear messaging.
Manages a portfolio of existing and prospective major donors and foundations.
Oversees the design, coordination and execution of cultivation events.
Provides direction to the Director of Finance & Administration to strengthen development operations.
Ensures overall integration across the fundraising functions.
Collaborates with JVI’s South Asia team to develop local fundraising capacity.
Minimum Qualifications
3-5 years professional fundraising experience.
Management experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
A demonstrated track record of building a development function.
A strategic approach to development with significant experience in cultivating and managing donors.
Exceptional financial, organizational and administrative skills.
A strong interpersonal and communication skill set.
A track record as an effective communicator.
Experience and competency using various development software.
Position requires a moderate amount of travel and flexible hours.
