As our organization continues to expand throughout New York, we are seeking an accomplished executive to establish and lead our External Affairs & Strategic Partnerships function. This newly created leadership role offers the unique opportunity to build meaningful relationships across government, business, nonprofit, and community organizations while helping shape strategic initiatives that strengthen our public presence and support long-term organizational growth.
Reporting directly to the President, the Vice President, External Affairs & Strategic Partnerships will serve as a trusted advisor and the organization's primary representative to elected officials, government agencies, regulatory bodies, business leaders, trade associations, nonprofit organizations, and strategic partners across New York State.

What You'll Do
External & Government Affairs
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with elected officials, legislative staff, government agencies, regulatory organizations, and public-sector leaders.
• Monitor legislative, regulatory, and public policy developments affecting the property insurance and disaster recovery industries.
• Coordinate executive meetings, briefings, and ongoing engagement with government stakeholders.
• Advise executive leadership on external affairs strategy, stakeholder engagement, and emerging policy initiatives.
Strategic Partnerships
• Develop relationships with municipalities, counties, public authorities, school districts, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, trade associations, nonprofit organizations, and business groups.
• Identify opportunities to establish collaborative partnerships, educational initiatives, and community outreach programs.
• Represent the organization at conferences, legislative events, public meetings, industry forums, and community programs.
• Expand awareness of the organization's expertise, educational resources, and community initiatives throughout New York.
Public Affairs & Executive Communications
• Partner with executive leadership on public education, advocacy, and thought leadership initiatives.
• Assist in preparing executive presentations, briefing materials, reports, and stakeholder communications.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to ensure consistent messaging across all public-facing initiatives.
• Support executive speaking engagements, media opportunities, and community outreach efforts.
Executive Project Leadership
• Lead multiple strategic initiatives while ensuring timely execution.
• Coordinate executive stakeholder engagement activities and relationship management.
• Prepare executive briefings, presentations, meeting summaries, and strategic reports.
• Maintain organized records of partnership initiatives, government contacts, and organizational priorities.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will possess:
• Significant experience in external affairs, government affairs, legislative affairs, public policy, public affairs, stakeholder engagement, or strategic partnerships.
• A demonstrated ability to build and maintain executive-level relationships across government, business, nonprofit, and community organizations.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Strong project management, organizational, and strategic planning abilities.
• Executive presence, sound judgment, diplomacy, and professionalism.
• The ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience advising senior executives and representing an organization with credibility and confidence.
