Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago partners with mission-driven people and organizations across Cook and Lake counties to witness a message of mercy and hope to a world in need by improving lives, nourishing spirits; strengthening and empowering people, families, and communities; and committing to being present to our times through the eyes of faith.

Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Vice President-Community Programs supports and empowers a team of six direct reports and a full team of approximately 65 people charged with building a community, offering companionship, and providing nourishment for all who walk through our doors – being present to our neighbors in need and offering food, clothing, and case management. Total budget responsibility is approximately $10MM, and the Vice President oversees volunteer operations within Community Programs for up to 10,000 volunteers annually.

Core Responsibilities include:

Lead A Robust Program Portfolio

Oversee community-based programming across Cook and Lake counties, including community centers, parish-based ministries, and mobile services; food pantries and home-delivered and congregate meals for seniors; housing case management; and volunteer-led Shared Table community meals, Loaves and Fishes lunch ministry, and Woven Together clothing ministry. Work with Client and Community Impact teams to design, pilot, and launch new programs and services. Partner with finance and program leaders to develop, monitor, and manage budgets.

Develop And Coach A Cohesive, People-Centered Team

Cultivate a sense of shared purpose for a team laser focused on building community, offering companionship, and providing nourishment for all who walk through CCAC’s doors. Provide direction and guidance to your leaders, their teams, and a cadre volunteers so that they are positioned to help others, work together, and achieve meaningful goals and key performance outcomes. Coach and develop leaders, helping them to realize their full potential.

Cultivate And Sustain Partnerships And Collaboration

Serve as a cross-functional leader within CCAC, working closely with program colleagues across impact areas, government relations, and volunteer engagement. Develop partnerships with peer organizations to strengthen the social safety net for the people we serve. Represent CCAC externally, on behalf of our Community Programs.

Design and Implement Best-In-Class Volunteer Operations

Direct and support the Senior Director, Community Programs to ensure that volunteers have meaningful opportunities to work with our front line employees to serve CCAC’s clients. This work will include designing, socializing, and implementing new systems so that CCAC can scale and strengthen our Community Programs. Key leader on a new cross-functional group with shared ownership of CCAC volunteers’ experience.

7-9 years in leadership positions with increasing levels of responsibility in human services or related field

Compensation: $140000-$160000 / year
